With a relentless focus on innovation and sustainability, John is driving the development of cutting-edge sustainable technology solutions that is helping shape a more sustainable future and accelerate the UK’s journey to net-zero.
John is extremely passionate about the energy transition and the role of technology and puts the customer at the heart of everything he does.
Working across multiple products from around the world, John is drives the development of a full sustainable technology product range. These will help shape a more sustainable future for UK commercial and domestic markets. The technologies can work alone or combined as a complete system to provide additional benefits.
John is an advocate for empowering the UK energy transformation through policy and consultation within the industry and government. With over 2O years of experience across other industries he is now helping to scale up and work through challenges with peers across the entire energy industry.

Chief Integration Engineer
Oan de Waal is a professionally registered engineer with over a decade of international experience leading the design, integration, and deployment of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across residential, commercial, industrial and utility-scale markets. At Capenex, Oan oversees the technical integration of Levocell’s battery technologies into European and UK markets, driving product compliance, alignment to standards, and optimising system architecture.
With more than 4.5 GW and 15.8 GWh of energy storage projects experience globally, Oan has played a pivotal role in shaping the strategic and technical foundations of BESS deployments from feasibility study and design to project delivery. His deep expertise spans grid compliance, Power Conversion Systems (PCS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), Battery Management Systems (BMS) and hybrid renewable integration and modelling.
Oan is passionate about advancing scalable, future ready storage technologies that accelerate the transition to clean energy. He thrives in multicultural, cross-disciplinary environments, bringing clarity and technical leadership to complex energy projects across the UK, EU, Africa, and Asia.

Kate Barry is a purpose-driven operator with over 25 years of leadership experience delivering complex transformation across technology, media, and now renewable energy. As Chief Operating Officer at Capenex Energy Group, she leads the execution of high-impact programmes that accelerate the company's strategic agenda across solar, battery storage, carbon markets and circular energy systems.
Known for her ability to translate vision into scalable delivery, Kate has led cross-functional teams through periods of growth, turnaround, and operational redesign—achieving results such as 45% revenue uplift through digital innovation and customer-led platform development. She brings a strong track record in operational planning, P&L management, and commercial delivery, shaped by a deep understanding of how to align internal execution with investor, regulatory, and market expectations.
Kate is committed to building high-performance, values-led organisations where data, talent, and accountability underpin sustainable outcomes. At Capenex, she plays a pivotal role in enabling the company's Net Zero mission by integrating people, processes, and technology into a cohesive, future-ready platform for energy transition.

David is a serial entrepreneur, founding The Music Solution Ltd, then technology company Pitch Entertainment Group, which he took to sale in 2008. Since then, David has founded and headed up various businesses including property developer Oflang Ltd, local shopping online retailer My High St, also founding charities such as YouEntrepreneur and Sinfonia, while a Trustee of charities and organisations including the National Youth Orchestra where he also chaired the Development Board, the Heart of the South-West LEP, Music for Youth UK, British Youth Theatre and numerous others.
In 2015, David was elected a Member of Parliament, joining the Government first as Parliamentary Private Secretary for the Department for Education, and then for the Department for International Development. David sat on the European Scrutiny Select Committee and chaired several cross-party groups and Parliamentary Inquiries.
A passionate advocate for green technologies, he left Parliament in 2023, the following year launching Capenex Energy Group and its subsidiaries Getricty, NeutraTrade, Levocell UK and Levocell Bulgaria AD with business partners and a consortium of investors. David is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and a Fellow of the Industry and Parliament Trust.

With over 20 years of leadership experience at BP, Bruce held several high-profile roles, including CFO of Global Supply Chain and CEO for Latin America, where he led multi-billion-dollar operations, transformational projects, and sustainable cost-saving initiatives across diverse markets.
Passionate about clean energy and reversing climate change, Bruce has dedicated his career to advancing sustainability and delivering impactful financial leadership that aligns with environmental goals. His expertise spans executing complex mergers and acquisitions, leading fundraising efforts, and delivering operational transformations at scale. Career highlights include raising €400M in private equity for cleantech ventures, executing a $10BN proprietary acquisition strategy, and streamlining global operations to enhance profitability and efficiency.
Bruce is adept at building high-performing teams, negotiating with stakeholders, and aligning financial strategies with sustainability objectives. A Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA) with a degree in Physics from Southampton University, Bruce combines technical rigor with strategic insight to drive meaningful change in the global energy landscape.
